Will A Fancy Background Enhance Your Listing?Have a look at some of the most popular websites out there and view their colour schemes. You will find that the vast majority of the actual content on successful websites is on a plain old white background. Don’t believe me? Try visiting the pages of these popular sites: Were you surprised? Many people are! But you should have noticed that colour is used, albeit to emphasise only certain parts of the page. This careful selection of colour is used along with company logos as part of a complete design to add identity to the overall site. The content itself is styled for maximum readability, which to this day remains mostly dark type on a white background (centuries of printed documents can’t be wrong, can they?). So perhaps the only time to consider the use of fancy background tactics is if you are a frequent eBay trader, and even then it must not be obtrusive to the item description. By introducing some regular and consistent style add-ons, a sort of ‘corporate’ image is maintained which can serve to reassure buyers that they are dealing with a trustworthy and reliable seller. As a general rule, it will always makes sense to consider if there is any value to be added for your potential buyer by complicating your listing. Above all, it is absolutely essential to keep your item description readable! |
